I feel bad reviewing this album, partly because I actually like some other Firebox releases, partly because Until Death Overtakes Me is not the worst band around and, as a new one deserves some slack, but... The album starts rather promisingly with a haunting keyboard intro and even the first 10 or so minutes of "Missing" manage to hold the listener's attention despite the fact that UDOM might very well be THE slowest band in existence, yet I just keep finding myself lose interest by the middle of it. However keyboard-driven and very Skepticism-like, this is just too much of a one-man project for me. Way too atmospheric and the production is that of a home studio... No drums, either - they have been replaced with timpani, simply because the material is too slow for any drummer to perform. The album does have some decent melodies, like the "Prelude" intro and the main line in "Missing", but you'd be much better off checking out Stijn Van Cauter's other project, Pantheist.
